PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Triduum of Prayer and Garden Party:  I thank once again Fr. Dick Delahunty, Fr. Flann Lynch and Mrs Mary Cunningham for leading us last week.  They led us to sacred space which is closer than we think and made us, I hope, less afraid to encounter God in everyday living.  Thanks also to those involved in the liturgies, sacristy team, Ministers of the Word, Eucharistic Ministers, both Parish Choirs, SHYNE group and all who participated.  I hope all benefitted in some way.To all who contributed to the successful Garden Party, to all who helped set up the Church grounds, expecially the Knights of St. Columbanus; to those who contributed food and beverages, to the ladies who prepared the food, to those who lent equipment, to all who cooked and served on the evening, to the youth who supervised the fun areas, to the "X Factor Hopefuls" who sang and musiced us (you saw and heard them here first) and to all who helped tidy up on Saturday night and Sunday evening.  Thank you and God bless you.
To all who came to pray and play over the three evenings - these days and events go some way to building a community of Faith and welcome that can socialise and enjoy each others company.  Let us continue to build.

Reflection

Another Step

Love always beckons another step.
Don't we know that from family life,
marriage, communities,
friendships?

Love may seem to have nowhere to lay its head
as we move from a secure place in love
to new trust, new challenges, new demands,
as children grow older,
a spouse gets ill.

And God may seem distant.

Love has to move on
leaving the dead ways of being with
someone,
rising to new depths of conversation or care,
as families move out to marry and raise new families,
as our loved ones die or move away,

And God may seem remote.

Love looks back only in thanks.
For remembering past times with regret
is a way of living in the past,
like parents trying to pretend families are not grown up,
or people in mid-life hankering after youth.

Love enjoys the security and life of the present;
it is willing to move and grow with each other,
and it looks back only to say thanks
and bring the spirit of love -
grown and deepened from the past -
into the future.

And God is in love,
for he is the source and the energiser
of all true love.
