Reflection The love of God for all
To accept that God first loved us, through no merits of our own, and that God is always there for us, although we forget God, is more difficult for us than following God's commandments.
To accept that God loves us just as we are, unconditionally, gratuitously, and forever, is more difficult for us than to sacrifice as we should for God and for others.
To accept that God forgives absolutely and does not hold our past against us is more difficult for us than to repent of the evil we have done. To accept this love of God is the only path to freedom and interior peace. And it is the underlying reason why we should accept each other and love each other just as we are. Reflection My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts
Don't we know this so well, my ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts.
This is a big statement of faith. We believe this because we know it from failure, sickness, death, bereavement.
But to trust - that is something more challenging.
Can I trust as a loved one is in a terminal illness and I wonder why God does not call home? Can I trust when a child is ill and we can't get at the cause? Can I trust when love breaks up?
My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts.
There are times when all we can say, all we can remember, all we can find hope in is that on the cross of Calvary, Jesus heard those same words, and trusted in God his Father.
My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts. PARISH - BE A PART OF IT OR BE APART FROM IT

Reflection Forgiving others
The heart of God is a compassionate heart; understanding weakness, covering over faults and selfishness and forgiving sins.
Compassion awaits compassion: if God is compassionate to you, surely you are to be compassionate to others.
Compassion opens the heart; you see a person sleeping rough and you wince and say `it shouldn't be like that', and you feel something deep inside for a person. Compassion may often not be able to do anything but offer presence, sympathy, support. How often must I forgive others?
Or when someone doesn't hold your faults against you, your heart is opened wider and compassion enters into the place forgiveness prepares.
Give thanks for this day for those who understand you; give thanks this day for those who forgive you; give thanks this day for those whom you understand and forgive.
And then the Eucharist will more deeply touch your life, for the Bread of God is the bread baked with compassion. PARISH - BE A PART OF IT OR BE APART FROM IT

Reflection A prayer for every day
Day after day, O Lord of my life, shall I stand before you face to face. With folded hands, O Lord of all worlds, shall I stand before you face to face.
Under your great sky in solitude and silence, with humble heart, shall I stand before you face to face.
In this laborious world of yours, busy with toil and trouble, among hurrying crowds, shall I stand before you face to face.
And when my work shall be done in this world, O King of Kings, alone and speechless, shall I stand before you face to face. A prayer for every day
This is my prayer to you, my Lord - strike, strike at the root of penury in my heart.
Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows. Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service. Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees before greed and might. Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles. And give me the strength to surrender my strength to your will with love. PARISH - BE A PART OF IT OR BE APART FROM IT
