17th August 2014 Bulletin

PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement:
Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Eucharistic Adoration: prayer intention for the month of August is to bring an end to abortion.  Please keep this intention in mind in your prayers.

ADYC Pilgrimage to Lourdes begins today and includes young people from our Parish.  Let us pray for each other at the Grotto and here at home.

First Friday Eucharistic Adoration in St. Patrick’s Church has been a much loved and well supported feature of parish life for over 16 years.  Its success and continuance would not have been possible save for the faithful dedication of a group of parishioners who gave their unstinting commitment at the last Rota Review.  However, personal circumstances have conspired in some instances to make that continued commitment difficult and in others impossible, thus necessitating an earlier than anticipated review so as to ensure that the basic requirement of two persons present is maintained.  To this end blank rota sheets are available at the back of the church during 10 a.m. Mass in St. Patrick’s  This will give those parishioners who wish to commit for the first time the opportunity of availing of a grace filled period in the presence of Jesus, and to the regulars who wish to renew their commitment either at their current timeslot or at a new more convenient one.  Those from other Parishes are welcome also to sign up for an hour or 30 minutes, and please tell those who work in the town that they too might want to avail of this quiet time of prayer.  In each case please enter your name in one of the “boxes” that correspond with your chosen time.  Remember if you are committing to an hour fill in both of the half-hour slots that make up your hour.

URGENT: PROJECT JUSTICE:  The Justice committee of the N. I. Assembly is currently running a public consultation on a proposed amentment to the Cruminal Justice Bill, that will ensure that private clinics, such as the Marie Stopes Centre in Belfast cannot legally carry out abortion.  Please sign a ‘submission postcard’  and show your support for the amendment.  Closing date for written submissions is Friday 12th September 2014.  For postcards and further information contact Precious Life on 028 9027 8484 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The Legion of Mary wishes to give recognition to all those active members who have given loyal service to Mary in this parish over the past 80 yrs. by including their names in a commemorative display in October.  As there are gaps in the records and some forenames missing it would be appreciated if parishioners could supply any of the members with these details.  To this end lists of names extracted from existing records are available for checking in the sacristy.  Please feel free to make any amendments regarding spelling etc.  If your relative’s name is not listed and you know he/she to have been an ACTIVE member (attended the weekly meetings and did associated work during the week) please append the name(s) and give some indication of the decade(s) in question.

Reflection

A woman who was true to herself

Be true to yourself and your feelings.
Follow your heart and be guided by
your mind;
Love sincerely and with respect;
express faithfully your love.
Listen and remember,
you’re not alone.

Keep sight of your roots,
the love of your parents, your home,
your friends.
These roots are only the beginnings.
You create the branches,
care for the fruit
and delight in the harvest.

Live really and honestly,
dream of peace and beauty,
love gently and with care.
Have faith in God.

Be true to yourself.
