PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement:
Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Reflection

And they returned to their country by a different way

They had journeyed
for weeks, maybe months,
through desert, towns,
all sorts of weather.

Expecting to find a king,
and as we know,
they found a child.
Expecting to find a palace,
and as we know they found a stable.
Expecting to find royalty,
and as we know,
they found Mary and Joseph.

Surprised by God,
surprised by life,
isn’t that how it is for all all?

Surprised by Christmas?
An idea in a homily or a radio talk,
the moments of prayer when God seemed close,
the child’s surprise gift or smile,
the lift in the heart of a spouse’s love?

Or the opposite?
The phone call that never came,
the loneliness of being on your own,
the memories of other Christmasses, that bring pain,
the doubt that God is near at all.

Like for the Magi,
the journey was the best of times, the worst of times.
Bur the star always guided them,
never within grasp,
always within sight.

Maybe we travel into the same places
but by a different way
because of the birth of Christ.

The child of Bethlehem reminds each
of us
that we are loved children of God
and that each of us has our star,
never within grasp,
always within the sight of faith,
guiding us into the light of God.
