PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement
: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Consecration of Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary - Ireland will be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Knock Shrine by Cardinal Seán Brady.

Background: Consecration to Our Lady is well-attested to in the tradition of the Church. It is understood as referring to ‘entrusting’ the person(s) to Our Lady and is a conscious recognition of her singular role in the Mystery of Christ and of the Church, and of the universal and exemplary importance of her witness to the Gospel, of trust in her intercession and patronage, and of the many maternal functions she has, since she is a true mother in the order of grace to each and every one of her children.

In the Act of Consecration we entrust ourselves completely, so as to keep our Baptismal commitments and live as Mary’s children and we will entrust families, homes and the dioceses of Ireland to Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary and call on her to watch over the young people of Ireland. As the universal Church is currently celebrating a Year of Faith, it is fitting that the Act of Consecration calls to mind the woman of faith par excellence and asks for her prayers for the people of our country.
The prayer of Consecration will be said at Masses in this Parish on the feast of the Assumption.

Reflection

BEING READY

Being ready and noticing the Call of God is one hallmark of being a Christian.

Be ready
to notice the need of God in the people we meet;
in their need to be heard at a time of worry,
in their need for care in illness,
for forgiveness when we’ve hurt eachother,
for the conversations that can bring
faith in doubt,
hope in despair
and love alawys.
For there is the Son of Man, coming at an hour you do not expect.

Be ready, says the Lord,
to notice the need of God
in the millions of hungry children,
homeless parents,
refugees without a home,
people, even children, sleeping rough in our town;
be ready to care,
to help,
to reach out,
for there is the Son of Man, coming at an hour you do not expect.

Be Ready,
in times and spaces for prayer,
to notice the love of God
reaching you and the world through you,
the forgiveness of God
touching a world of hurt and violence through you,
and the call of God
to be ready
today and every day,
to be his presence
justice
and love
among his people.
