PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are
challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Parish Lenten Retreat - This year the Parish is offering a Parish Lenten Retreat entitled 'Fish on Friday - For an Easter Like Never Before' and we invite everyone to be involved.  The idea is really simple and offers the opportunity to do something different this year. The Retreat takes place every Friday night during the 7pm evening Eucharist.  In addition everyone will be given a simple Retreat booklet to help you spend 5 minutes a day with God during the days of Lent.  Why not give it a try this year and let God surprise you by making this Lent a really enjoyable preparation for an Easter like never
before?  Everything will be supplied and all that is needed is you.

Do something special this Lent! Many people choose to abstain from alcohol for the duration of Lent. Take this opportunity to help someone you love with an alcohol or drug problem by offering up your sacrifice as a prayer for their freedom and well-being. Take the Short-Term pledge and make a difference to someone’s life!  Forms to sign available in Churches.  For more information visit www.pioneerassociation.ie or contact Raymond O’Connor (003531) 874 9464

Reflection

Following the way of Jesus

As we set our feet on the path of Jesus,
temptations will come to follow other paths,
to give our energy and commitment to other ways,
to look for life and happiness away from God.

The temptation to Jesus was
to live for himself;
like the instinct in each of us
to see ourselves as number one.
Jesus’ conviction, spread in his works
of healing the sick in mind and body,
of consoling people in all sorts of situations
and teaching the way to God
and finally in his death on the Crioss,
is that true fulfilment
is in being men and women of God for
others.

He was son of God for us,
not for himself;
the temptation was
to turn the spotlight on himself
and accept a life of comfort,
concerned with honour, wealth and power.

The gifts of personality that each has
are to fit us for our journey of life,
and to be shared with all we meet on
the journey of life we share.

Our wealth, learning, talents -
all we have received in our upbringing,
all we have received from God -
are to enrich not only ourselves,
but are given for the life of the world.

Called by God to be
men and women for others,
we may be tempted to use
our love and our talents,
even faith and religion,
just for ourselves.

May we walk in the path of true life
may we create a world of equality and
justice,
where the dignity of people
is valued as much as the dignity of God.

In Jesus we are brothers and sisters,
men and women for others.
Together may we walk on the
path of life eternal.

 OR BE APART FROM IT
