PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

On Tuesday 21st February in Drumcree Pastoral Centre at 7.30 p.m. there will be an open gathering for all interested parishioners on this topic.  It is one that should concern all of us.  Some of the issues to be discussed are Church attendances and levels of Sacramental practice, the declining number of priests/religious and the implications of Baptism and the responsibility of the lay faithful.
This is an important gathering and the results from these engagements across the Diocese will help to shape the pastoral plan for the next few years.
The Parishes of the Pastoral Area will also be attending.

Reflection

Rejected by many, accepted by
Jesus

A person rejected in society
came to Jesus
and openly knelt before him to be healed,
the leper was an outcast;
people feared he would contaminate them.

This illness was a way of defining him;
and then he was put out of sight.

Labels for people define them and narrow them.
We don't want to be labelled.

Maybe we label people out of fear,
or for a quiet life.
If we think they are different from us,
we don't have to deal with them.

Jesus sees the whole person,
not any single part of the personality.

And Jesus was so compassionate, so open
that people couldn't take it,
and he stayed outside the town,
the place where rejected people live.

He was at home there
because he himself was rejected by his own;
he was at home there,
because he touched those people with love;
he is always at home with love.
