PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Today is Mission Sunday.  We remember and pray for our missionaries working overseas.  We thank God for their good work.  But we remember too that all of us as baptised Christians are called to be missionaries.  We don't have to leave house or family or country in order to be
missionaries.  We don't have to give up our job or join a missionary group.  All we have to do is witness to the Gospel to the best of our ability.  We thank God today for the gift of our faith and we pray for the strength to witness to it always, to the best of our ability.

We will be using these new prayers during October:

Penitential Act A
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grevious fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Orate, fratres

Priest:  Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.

People:  May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church.

Holy, holy, holy - Sanctus

Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Invitation to Holy Communion

Priest:  Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

People:  Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Reflection

There are only two commandments:
love God and love your neighbour

Hasn't Jesus made it a bit too simple?
Loving God - what a question!
Loving who or what?
Loving what I cannot see,
the cause of all that moves,
the source of all life.

That would be remote,
frightening, distant.

Isn't it simpler to say:
what you love in another, you love in God.
When you love another, you love God.

There are only two commandments:
love God and love your neighbour.

Loving your child is loving God;
loving your husband or wife is loving God;
loving a pupil, a friend,
loving one you cannot stand,
this is loving God.

And in the evening of our lives,
we'll remember back
to whom we loved and tried to love,
we will dance with joy for those we loved,
and ask for forgiveness of someone,
of God, of others, of life,
for those we hurt.

We know deep down in our good hearts,
that in fact Jesus was right.
He was not simple
but challenging us to the most difficult thing in life.
