The main event in the Archdiocese of Armagh to mark the 400th Anniversary of the Birth of St Oliver Plunkett, martyred Archbishop of Armagh, will take place in Drogheda on Sunday, 6 July.  Procession of Relics from Holy Family Church, Ballsgrove (A92 P263) at 3.00pm. Mass at 4.00pm in St Peter’s Church, West St (A92 A068) which houses the relic of the head of St Oliver. Celebrant and Preacher: Archbishop Eamon Martin, DD, 23rd Successor to St Oliver in the See of Armagh.  Visiting bishops and other dignitaries will also be in attendance. All welcome to attend. Refreshments afterwards in The Marcy Hotel, West St.

An exhibition to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of St Oliver Plunkett continues in the Civic Offices, Fair Street, Drogheda, A92 PP78 until 6th July 2025.The exhibition includes a number of artefacts and memorabilia, some on public display for the first time, including St Oliver’s crozier, episcopal ring, vestments, and coffin plate.  It also includes a large collection of banners, books, coins, a written account of the then Archbishop’s trial in London in 1681 and much more. Open Monday to Friday, 10.00am – 4.00pm. This excellent exhibition is highly recommended. Entrance Free.

Celebrating St Oliver 400 presents a Gala Concert in St Peter’s Church, West Street.
Conductor: Edward Holly, Compère: Gerry Kelly. Featuring guest international soprano, Celine Byrne, St Peter's Male Voice Choir, Drogheda, violinist, Jennifer Murphy, and tenor, Seán Tester, as well as some of Ireland's top musicians.
