Easter Ceremonies 2014
During the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday), all other celebrations (except those proper to these days), even funeral Masses are prohibited.

HOLY THURSDAY
"The Mass of the Lord's Supper is celebrated in the evening at a time convenient for the full participation of the whole local community."

Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7pm in St John the Baptist Church. The Blessed Sacrament will be reserved at the Altar of Respose until 10pm. Please spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament.

GOOD FRIDAY (Day of Fast & Abstinence in memory of the Lord's Passion.)
"For the Veneration of the Cross, let a Cross be used that is of appropriate size and beauty. Only ONE Cross should be used for the Veneration as this contributes to the full symbolism of the Rite."

St John the Baptist Church - 8pm: Stations of the Cross led by SHYNE Youth Group.

HOLY SATURDAY
"On this day, the Church is, as it were, at the Lord's Tomb meditating on his passion and death and on his descent into Hell, and awaiting his Resurrection with Prayer and Fasting.

Morning Prayer in St Patrick's Church at 10am.
Polish Community - Easter Breakfast Food will be blessed at 10.30am in St Patrick's Church.

EASTER VIGIL - St John the Baptist Church at 9pm.
"This is the night when the Church keeps vigil, waiting for the Resurrection of the Lord. The Resurrection of Christ in which he broke the chains of death and rose triumphant from the grave is the foundation of our faith and hope. Through Baptism and Confirmation, we enter into the Paschal Mystery of Christ, dying, buried and raised with him, and with him, we shall also reign."

EASTER SUNDAY
"It was very early on the first day of the week when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb."

Easter Dawn Service - everyone is invited to a brief service organised by Portadown Churches Together on Easter Sunday morning at 6am at Craigavon Lakes Watersports Centre.

Normal Sunday Masses will take place on Easter Sunday.
