PARISH OF DRUMCREE

Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are
challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Syria:  Pope Francis has asked for prayer and fasting this weekend regarding the situation in Syria and the response locally and world wide - that peace and justice may prevail.  Families and individuals may like to use the following prayer:

God of Mercy, Look upon our brothers and sisters in Syria with compassion.  Hear their cries and answer them.  Protect them in their hour of need.  Comfort them in their mourning.  Journey with them as they flee the harsh reality of war to a place of comfort and lasting peace.  Inspire all leaders to seek love over hatred, and create in them the courage to ease the suffering of a people.  May we as followers of Christ, be an example of your loving mercy here on earth, For it is in giving to all that we receive.  We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace. Amen

Reflection

Your endurance will win you your lives

Isn’t courage something we really admire in people?
A child learning to walk and making efforts,
even when she falls or he has to be helped at
 every step.
A young person trying again after exam failure,
or making yet another job application.
People who make it against the odds
of illness or handicap or deep hurt.
Courage is strength from the inside.

How to nourish this strength?
look at the face of Jesus and see the face of God
alive with courage in face of death,
shining with courage in the face of rejection,
a face communicating strength -
strength born in the depths of his suffering
strength to his friends, like you and me when we suffer.

We need courage in love;
when the care we try to offer is rejected,
and we feel let-down and no good;

We need courage when we try to work on behalf
of those who are neglected, homeless, poor,
and our efforts are destroyed by greed in society.

We need courage
in the love which cares for people in pain,
and we feel helpless and angry on their behalf.

Look at the face of Jesus,
alive and shining with courage;

look at the eyes of Jesus,
eyes hopeful with love and friendship,
shining with compassion, for you and me;
an enduring love which is faithful forever.
His endurance won him his life;
he will ensure that our endurance will win
 us ours.

The JOY rule
Think of Jesus
Think of Others
Think of You
