PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

St. Joseph's Sunday - Knock Shrine - 18th March:
Men and their families are invited tto celebrate the annual pilgrimage to honour St. Joseph.  Starting at 2 p.m. a Holy Hour, Mass and Benediction.  Sacrament of Reconciliation available throughout the afternoon.

The organisers of the Eucharistic Congress are asking people all around Ireland and the world to "Ring for Renewal" on St. Patrick's Day. This is an invitation to pause on the journey of life, to withdraw from busyness for a moment, to reflect on how we can renew as people and as members of the Church as we prepare for the International Eucharistic Congress. The idea is to engage in the path of personal and Church renewal which is the agenda of the Eucharistic Congress and to join the journey in a personal way.
We are inviting faithful at home to pause and reflect as they ring a bell at any time of the day. Ringtones of the Eucharistic Congress Bell chiming are available to download on mobile phones from the Congress website for those who wish to.
- As well as the Angelus Bell at 12noon and 6pm a Bell in the sanctuary of each Church is available to Parishioners to ring as they go out from Mass or if they are going in to pray at a different time of the day.
Why ring a Bell?
For Christians the bell has long been associated with the invitation to gather, the sound being perceived as God's voice, God's call, which draws people to assemble. For early Christian Ireland the sound of the bell of St. Patrick and other great saints across the land heralded the dawn of a new and eternal day for the Irish people - called to hear the good news - Jesus Christ, the Word made Flesh - and in turn become bearers of this news to others, far and near. The image of the bell is still used to convey joy, celebration and the announcement of good news. Combined, the image and sound of the bell symbolise for us God's call to all people to gather to hear good news.
With the chiming of bells, we invite people to a moment of stillness inviting the Christian community to pause on the journey of life, to withdraw from busyness for a moment, to reflect. We invite people to come together drawn by the sound or the peal of a Bell.
The symbol of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress is a Bell. Like the Olympic torch prepares for the Olympics, the Eucharistic Congress Bell has been going all around Ireland calling people to prepare for the Congress since last St Patrick's day. Now, having gone to each of the 26 dioceses in Ireland, the Bell will travel to Rome for this year's St. Patrick's Day, bringing an international aspect to this call to spiritual renewal in the heart of the Catholic Church. Like St. Patrick's Bell, the Congress Bell is being rung across the land calling God's people together, to hear anew the good news that God is present among us and calls us to communion.

I don't bother with Church, Parish or Priest,
so the Mission is not for me.
Yes it is!
The Mission is for you.
It `s your time to focus on you and not Church, Parish or Priest!
COME AND SEE.

Reflection

True religion

A prophet once said that true religion
means to act justly,
love tenderly
and walk humbly with your God.

Religion can be a means of
praising God
or serving self,
of service to others,
or caring for self.

It can diminish people,
make them guilty always in the sight of God
and then it misses the first grace of any faith;
that God loves each of us,
a love that dwells within us
as real as the blood in our veins
the muscles in our limbs,
the hair on our head.

Religion can keep the poor more needy,
encouraging an unthinking acceptance
of the inequality among people.
And it misses then another grace,
that we are brothers and sisters
and all we are given is for the service of others.

Jesus was angry in the temple,
because of the greed of the sellers,
who were exploiting the poor in the name of religion,
(for the poor had to buy there
the ingredients of their sacrifice),
and mocking the house of God.

And God is angry when people are
exploited, used, abused,
in any way -
physically, emotionally, spiritually

God asks us in Jesus
to share his anger
when in his name
people's dignity is diminished,
or love is abused, or the poor exploited
or when he himself is neglected.
This is true religion:
to act justly, love tenderly
and walk humbly with our God.

PARISH MISSION PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we pray that our Parish Mission may be a time of grace and
renewal for all.  We ask you to bless all the families in our Parish, especially those who are experiencing difficulties.
Bless the old, the young, the poor, the sick, the unemployed, and those in
sorrow or despair.
Help us dear Lord, to grow in faith and love of you.    Amen.
