PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Sr. Brigid Kavanagh slipped quietly into the hands of God last Saturday, 31st July.  May she rest in peace.  She was buried with her parents on Monday in Graiguecullen in Carlow.  In her seven years among us she was very involved in Diocesan and Parish and local committees and organisations as well as personal spiritual guidance and counselling.  Her enthusiasm and joy in her ministry will be missed - but will live on in all who came her way.  God's Spirit was with her at all times - may her spirit now be with God.

Armagh Diocesan Youth will be going on pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick and Lough Derg this week - join them in prayer in
walking/climbing/praying and fasting/praying.

Our Lady of Fatima Statue will come to St. John the Baptist Church next Saturday evening for the Mass of the Assumption at 7 p.m.  Parishioners are encouraged to come to the Church during the week to pray for the intention of peace.
At Masses next weekend 21st/22nd August (anniversary of the Apparition at Knock/Feast of Queenship of Mary) individuals and families will have the opportunity to join in the Acts of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

St. Patrick's Church in William Street was opened in 1835.  Since then a procession of thousands of pilgrims have made their way there to celebrate the Sacraments, especially the Mass, to attend Missions and Devotions, or to light a candle and spend a quiet moment in prayer before God.  Let us remember them all and the present day pilgrims who come to St. Patrick's to worship.  To mark 175 years there will be a celebration on Monday 13th September at 7 p.m.

Pastoral Centre:  the work is on schedule and the finishing date as you know is January 2011.  Keep the project in your prayers.  Thanks to wll who have made personal financial donations - especially in lieu of flowers at family deaths or in lieu of presents at parties and other functions.

Do you want a reason to get fit?
Or to race for fun against your mates?
Or to jog/walk with friends and family for a good cause?
Well then ... get your gutties out and join in!
Maybe someone in your family might like to take part in our Parish Fun-Run to raise money for our
Developing World House Building Project in Romania.

Reflection

Being Ready

Being ready and noticing the call of God
is one hallmark of being a Christian.

Be ready
to notice the need of God
in the people we meet:
in their need to be heard at a time of worry,
in their need for care in illness,
for forgiveness when we've hurt each other,
for the conversations
that can bring faith in doubt,
hope in despair
and love always.
For there is the Son of man,
coming at an hour you do not expect.

Be ready, says the Lord,
to notice the need of God
in the millions of hungry children,
homeless parents,
refugees without a home,
people, even children,
sleeping rough in our own cities;
be ready to care,
to help, to reach out,
for there is the Son of man,
coming at an hour you do not expect.

Be ready,
in times and spaces for prayer,
to notice the love of God
reaching you and the world through you,
the forgiveness of God
touching a world of hurt and violence through you,
and the call of God
to be ready today and every day,
to be his presence, justice and love
among his people.
