PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Reflection

Joseph

I’m Joseph, the man who owned the tomb.
I watched the crucifixion of Jesus
with most of his friends
from a distance.

You might say I often felt I was dead in
myself,
hanging around the edge of the crowd  with him,
asking questions with Nicodemus.
Jesus didn’t seem to mind that -
come close when you want to,
no pressure -
was the impression he gave,
and I feel closer to him now.

Life was privileged for me,
no big problems,
enough money and family
connections,
but it was very dead.
I’m like people who have never forgiven themselves,
or who are too scared to love someone,
or who find it hard to feel with another person even when they want to,
or who thought that Jesus would ask too much.

All he asked of me was my tomb,
and I’m glad now to be rid of that,
I loved my security, in life and death -
I planned where I’d be buried,
and sure, I lived my life half-buried
in laws and fears and whispers of joy.

Now I feel born again,
refreshed by the water of his side
like the water of a womb.
I knew when I gave that tomb away,
I was getting back the gift of life.

Then I was the owner of a tomb,
now I have been gifted with the fullness
of his life

Parish Pastoral Council – Thursday 23rd April at 7.30 p.m.
In March 2006 the first elections took place for a new Parish Pastoral Council. It is recommended that elections take place every few years. That time has come and the process will begin on 26th April. On that date Parishioners will be asked to nominate other Parishioners – namely, Baptised Catholics, aged 17 years or more, who participate in the life and worship of the Parish, who have a loving concern for the Parish and are willing to be part of a Parish leadership group. The Spirit of God breathes in each Parishioner and each has something to contribute. No one is so rich that they have nothing to receive, and no one so poor that they have nothing to give.
