PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Reflection

THE LORD IS NEAR

In the moments of life when we need care beyond the ordinary, and in the
ordinary cares, God is near in Jesus, the light of the world. In admitting our need for God, God is near.

In the moments of life when others need God and approach us in their needs, we feed them with the Word of God, the Bread of Life, with Jesus, who came among his own, the Word made flesh.

We need God, in our cries to him;
we feed God, in our service to others

The child who is helpless and
nourished by love, the quarrelling couple healed with forgiveness, the lonely person enlivened by
friendship, all are fed by God,
for God is near in the love and care for others.

Homeless, poor, abused, victims of greed, helpless in illness or
depression, the Lord is near.

Home-care helpers, counsellors and social workers, people unravelling confusion and hopelessness, and the bread of life is given.

The Lord is born when at any time we bring love to birth.

When submitting notices for the bulletin please include a contact name and telephone number.
Notices and anniversaries should be left in by the Wednesday prior to publication.

A note to those who submit notices to the Bulletin.

The Communications Group, a sub-committee of the Parish Pastoral Council, met before Christmas. One of their tasks is to make sure that the Bulletin is used effectively and Parish based organisations and
societies are encouraged to promote their work and activities and events. Other groups from within the Parish and outside the Parish also make use of the Bulletin from time to time.

Some weeks there is not enough space to include all notices,
especially the last Sundays of the month when the list of Eucharistic Ministers and Readers for the following month is included. Some
features should be more regular - feasts of the week; recent
marriages; informative website details, for example.

It was also noted that some notices rarely if ever change.

In view of all this regular notices will not be guaranteed weekly space - so as to free up space for more intermitent notices and for special Church notices that may need more explanation - for example the
upcoming Week of Prayer for Church Unity or Diocesan News.

I hope that all will accept these proposals and be understanding in their implementation.

prayerfully,   Michael O’Dwyer
