Official logoThe 49th International Eucharistic Congress takes place in Quebec, Canada from 15th – 22nd June. A Eucharistic Congress is a gathering of the Universal Church to celebrate Jesus alive and present in the Eucharist, who is the source and summit of evangelisation. In 2008 the Archdiocese of Quebec has the honour of hosting pilgrims from around the world who will gather for a week of activities including adoration, catecheses, prayer and reflection.

The first International Eucharistic Congress took place in France in 1881. Since then there have been 48 further gatherings every number of years, including in Dublin in 1932. As is customary the Holy Father will be represented at the Congress by a special delegate who this year is Cardinal Jozef Tomko.

You can learn more about the Congress by visiting the official website which also offers some excellent spiritual and doctrinal resources. EWTN on Sky Channel 769 is also providing comprehensive television coverage of the Congress events.
