Vision 08The Bishops of Ireland have published a new Pastoral Letter entitled ‘Vision 08 – A Vision for Catholic Education in Ireland’. The Letter was launched on behalf of the Irish Bishops’ Conference by Bishop Leo O’Reilly on 12th May 2008.

Coming at a time when education provision is the subject of debate, the Pastoral Letter seeks to raise awareness about the valuable contribution and unique character of Catholic schools in Irish society. It emphasises that Catholic schools strive to promote a positive view of the person based on the teachings of Christ.

A Catholic school develops a community in which the members grow to maturity. Knowledge and learning form part of an education that is aimed at developing the potential of the whole person. Catholic schools share a commitment to providing an education of excellence which is based on the Gospel of Christ.
