CTS Book Stands PDF Print E-mail

As Catholics we are all aware of the fact that it is the right and responsibility of the Church’s leaders to guide and form consciences of their people by defining and teaching the Church’s position on all aspects of the faith and how our faith comes to life in our daily living. Just as important, however, is our Church’s invitation to us to realize our individual responsibility to ensure that we inform our faith in whatever way we can, especially through reading documents from trusted sources. Since 1912 the Catholic Truth Society (CTS) has printed booklets based upon Scripture and the teaching authority of the Church, and has become publisher to the Holy See.

Book Stand in Church of St John the Baptist You might have noticed that in both Churches in the Parish, we have some new CTS Bookstands. It is our intention to ensure that the stands are always stocked with booklets that help to draw us closer to God by supporting our prayer and by helping us better understand the joy of our Catholic faith. Popular choices include booklets on some ‘old favourites’ such as the lives of Saints Martin de Porres, Padre Pio and Therese of Lisieux. Also featured is a booklet on a Saint of the modern era, Gianna Molla, who was an Italian mother who underwent an unusual martyrdom and who was canonized in 2004.

We also stock pocket sized prayer books containing a treasure of prayers for many occasions including a novena to the Holy Spirit. There are companions that help us to prepare spiritually for the different liturgical seasons of the Church Year.

The contemporary world can create confusion around a number of important issues. To aid our understanding we have publications examining a wide range of social issues from a Catholic perspective including Islam, marriage annulment, sexuality, abortion, suffering, the Catholic approach to dying as well as a helpful booklet explaining many of the terms that are employed in the Church.

We hope to offer something for everyone through these new booklets and there will always be something fresh and new to read. The publications are very reasonably priced and if there is anything you would like to see us stock just let us know either by visiting the sacristy after Mass or by placing a note in the collection basket. So why not have a look at the CTS stand today and take home something to help deepen your faith life?
