The Easter Triduum marks the final three days of Holy Week when the Church celebrates Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. Parish arrangements are as follows:

The Mass of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated in the evening at a time convenient for
'The Institution of the Eucharist' by Joos van Wassenhoverthe full participation of the whole community.

Church of St. John the Baptist
Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7.00 p.m.*

Following Mass the Blessed Sacrament will be kept at the Altar of Repose until 10.00 p.m. Parishioners are encouraged to spent some quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

* Anniversaries falling on Good Friday and Holy Saturday will be prayed for at this Mass.

GOOD FRIDAY (6th April)

'The Crucifixion' by Giotto di BondoneA day of fast and abstinence in memory of the Lord’s Passion.

Church of St. Patrick

Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00 p.m.

For the Veneration of the Cross, let a cross be used that is of appropriate size and beauty. Only one cross should be used for the Veneration as this contributes to the full symbolism of the Rite.

Church of St. John the Baptist
Stations of the Cross led by the Youth of the Parish at 8.00 p.m.

HOLY SATURDAY (7th April)

On this day the Church is as it were at the Lord’s tomb, meditating on his passion and death, and on his descent into hell, and awaiting his resurrection with prayer and fasting.

Church of St. Patrick

Recitation of Prayers at 10.00 a.m.

Church of St. John the Baptist
Celebration of the Easter Vigil Mass at 9.00 p.m.

This is the night when the Church keeps vigil, waiting for the Resurrection of the Lord. The Resurrection of Christ, in which he broke the chains of death and rose triumphant from the grave, is the foundation of our faith and hope, and through Baptism and Confirmation we enter into the paschal mystery of Christ, dying, buried
'Resurrection' by Piero della Francesca and raised with him, and with him we shall also reign.
